ABOUT FLIR SYSTEMS
FLIR was founded in 1978, originally providing infrared imaging systems that were installed on vehicles for use in conducting energy audits. FLIR later expanded our focus to other applications and markets for thermal imaging technology, such as stabilized thermal imaging cameras for law enforcement aircraft, radiometry devices for use in monitoring industrial systems, and thermal imaging systems for use in ground-based security and search and rescue. FLIR have since grown substantially due to increasing demand for infrared products across a growing number of markets combined with the execution of a series of acquisitions. Today FLIR are one of the world leaders in the design, manufacture, and marketing of sensor systems that enhance perception and awareness for a wide variety of users in the commercial, industrial, and government markets, internationally as well as domestically.
Airborne Systems
With more than 3,000 EO/IR sensors on order or delivered, the Star SAFIRE® series provides the longest range performance in its class. This series of products includes the Star SAFIRE 380-HD, the world’s first and only all-digital, full-HD system. Through its unique ability to operate on any platform and in the harshest conditions, the Star SAFIRE series has been installed on more than 100 different types of helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, ships, land vehicles and observation towers in 70+ nations around the globe. The Star SAFIRE HD family – the first true family of interchangeable, digital, high-definition and single LRU imaging systems providing a full spectrum of ISR capabilities. Each product within the Star SAFIRE HD family shares the same installation hardware and the same user interface hardware and software. No matter which system is ultimately chosen by the end-user, all products in the family will easily install and operate, and it’s FLIR’s common interface that makes this possible. As a leading supplier of airborne laser-target designation systems, the Star SAFIRE® 400-LD line sets the standard for a new generation of long-range systems. With the added reliability of diode pumped laser technology, FLIR provides the most advanced precision targeting systems available.
Maritime Systems
Outfitting both small and larger maritime platforms, FLIR Systems offers fully marinized long-range and compact solutions. FLIR’s compact multi-sensor systems are unmatched in providing high performance in a small, lightweight package. From riverine and Special Forces boats, to littoral craft and capital ships, FLIR offers fully marinized surveillance and targeting sensors for a range of missions. FLIR’s marinized long-range and gyro stabilized sensors were developed and tailored for maritime installation to provide maximum sensor range performance and increased capability over typical pan/tilt systems. Proven through extensive operational experience in the harsh environments, and on a variety of maritime platforms, hundreds of these rugged and reliable sensors are fielded on vessels around the world.
Land Systems
Extraordinary protection is the ability to detect what others can’t – whether visually through advanced imaging technology; by detecting and tracking intruders through state-of-the-art ground surveillance radar; or detecting the presence of a chemical, biological, nuclear, or explosive threat. It’s the ability to see first, to understand fi rst, to act fi rst – the ability afforded by the unparalleled technical expertise FLIR brings to address the emerging challenges of our time. Over the past 40 years, FLIR has produced and delivered over 100,000 FLIR sensors, and thousands more radars and CBRNE sensors, for customers in more than 75 nations. We understand extraordinary protection, how critical it is to you and to your mission success.
Tactical Vision Systems
The growing line of FLIR Systems man-portable soldier solution products emphasize a design of systems that are lightweight, feature rich and house the longest range available. FLIR’s Recon® series of thermal binoculars and monoculars feature a long battery life, and are remote control capable to be configured for fixed surveillance.
Comprised of both infrared and image intensified (I2) technology, FLIR’s ThermoSight™ and MilSight™ weapon sight product lines offer a wider range of capabilities. The thermal weapon sights, available in both cooled and uncooled technology for tactical and long-range sniper configurations, complement existing day sight optics, providing long-range targeting in darkness – through smoke and fog. These systems offer significant aid in missions by increasing safety and efficiency while decreasing the soldier’s overall load.
THREAT DETECTION
FLIR manufactures the worlds most advanced sensors to combat the ever-evolving threats to our safety, security and sovereignty. FLIR threat detection instruments deliver laboratory-caliber fidelity, yet are compact, portable and ruggedized for extreme field use. The sensitivity, accuracy and low false alarm rates of our detectors are the best available. That’s why warfighters, law enforcement and first responders trust FLIR sensors to provide fast, accurate results when they need them most.
Mobile Chemical Analysis
FLIR brings chemical analysis out of the laboratory and into the field with the Griffin family of trace detection systems. The full suite of sampling options, user-friendly software and rugged form factor allow Griffin instruments to be deployed wherever and whenever they are needed. Griffin systems are used by an array of government and private sector agencies to detect and confirm the presence of explosives, illicit and designer drugs, CWAs, TICs, environmental pollutants, and a broad range of other chemicals of interest. Performing on-site analysis preserves sample integrity and saves time; giving users the actionable intelligence necessary to get the job done.
The Griffin™ 824 is the first desktop mass spectrometer designed specifically for explosives and narcotics trace detection in airports. Mass Spectrometry (MS) is a widely trusted technique used for definitive chemical analysis. Its inherent ability to provide selective chemical identification in complex operational environments is unmatched by existing Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS) technology.
Radiation Detection
Unlike other companies, FLIR takes the approach that one size doesn’t fit all when it comes to radiation detection and identification. Different missions require different features. The entire family of FLIR radiation instruments has been developed to address the specific sensitivity, resolution, size, and weight requirements of a variety of applications. Furthermore, each of these instruments employs the same simple to use and understand interface, which in turn reduces the training burden. The identiFINDER series of hand-held, digital gamma spectrometers are used world-wide by the nuclear industry, customs and border agencies, civil defense teams and first responders. With more than 14,000 instruments deployed worldwide, the well-known and trusted identiFINDER has become the industry standard.
Handheld Explosives Detection
The threat from homemade explosives continues to loom large. FLIR manufactures the most advanced explosives detection products available, these instruments provide fast, accurate, and consistent explosives detection for combat, physical security, law enforcement, and anti-terrorism operations. With its small and extremely light form-factor, the Fido X-series explosive detectors has been the number one choice of US and foreign militaries for almost a decade. Building on the success of the hundreds of Fido® detectors in use in airports, the new Fido X3 has been designed with transportation security in mind. The Fido X3 is the lightest and most sensitive handheld explosives trace detector on the market. With its magnesium case and splash-proof seal, the ruggedized design of the Fido X3 meets the rigorous MIL-STD 810-G specifications. The Fido X3 has an eight hour battery, starts from cold in under five minutes, and clears in seconds, so security officials spend less time waiting and more time screening for explosives.
Biological Agent Detection
Whether a part of hazmat response or for proactive detection, FLIR biological detection, monitoring and sampling systems are critical to security and response operations. The process of accurately identifying bio-terror agents enables timely containment, treatment, and remediation. In the unlikely event of an intentional biological event, early warning and rapid response can reduce injury to people, damage to assets, and disruption to operations.
Used at airports, critical facilities and government buildings all over the world, ThreatSense HVAC-based biological monitoring systems use IBAC™ Technology to provide early warning of biological aerosol threats. This technology facilitates the process of identifying bio-terror agents to allow timely containment, treatment and remediation. Monitors are designed to detect concentrated levels of biological aerosols.
